Bethesda, MD (October 12, 2004) – L-Soft has been named one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for Maryland. Deloitte & Touche LLP, one of the leading professional services firms, based the rankings on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 1999–2003. L-Soft, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has now been ranked in the top 50 of Deloitte & Touche's Maryland program four years.
"The mathematics of this award make it more and more difficult to win as the years go by, especially in the trend-conscious Internet industry," said Eric Thomas, L-Soft's founder and CEO. "But email lists are such a powerful value proposition that the vendors who 'got it right' have experienced sustained growth, and would in fact grow twice as fast if it weren't for the crowd of spammers stepping on the industry's collective brake pedal."
L-Soft was the first company to offer commercial email list software and has since developed an entire line of email list and email marketing software products and outsourcing services. Today, L-Soft has offices in the United States, Sweden, the UK and Germany, and helps more than 3,700 companies, associations, government agencies, media networks and other organizations develop relationships with their target audiences.
"To make the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, companies within the Maryland region must have had tremendous revenue growth from 1999-2003. Deloitte applauds L-Soft for having the long-term vision to develop technologies that change the way we work and play," said Gary H. Tabach of Deloitte's Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice and Office Managing Partner for Deloitte's McLean, Virginia office.
Poised for a winter release of new versions of its two main products, LISTSERV and LISTSERV Maestro, L-Soft sees a bright long-term future for the email industry. In the short term, the company's development efforts are focused on improved database integration and spam prevention.
"People are so fed up with spam that carpet bombing is slowly becoming the norm for email filtering, and valuable business messages are lost," Eric Thomas said. "Every person working with email one way or another is spending incredible amounts of time on the spam issue, at a time when economic pressure would require an unwavering focus on core business activities. My advice is to put spam in its place: a major hassle that cannot be allowed to distract from core business goals. Unless you are a mail administrator, it probably does not make sense for you to become a spam expert. Let your mail administrators do that, accept that some mail will be blocked no matter how much effort is spent on the problem, and learn to work around it."
