Lactnet is an Internet community dedicated to building the knowledge base of breastfeeding educators and other stakeholders. Its members include lactation consultants and others who are involved in various aspects of supporting mothers with breastfeeding, an important factor in the health of infants and children as well as women. Lactnet has been in operation since 1995 and has 3,500 members who span every continent with the exception of Antarctica. The judges' selection of Lactnet as the Grand Prize Winner recognizes the group's extraordinary use of email list technology to create and sustain a thriving virtual community of colleagues, who work together to promote maternal-child heath on a global scale.

Description: This award category recognizes optimal usage of the technology to share and exchange information in a group setting. All types of email lists that bring people together around a specific focus area are eligible. Email discussion lists, email communities, forums (e.g. support, customer and consumer), work teams and other usages that emphasize dialogue are encouraged to submit a nomination. L-Soft will honor the email list achieving the most exceptional results in fostering group communication with this award. |

L-Soft has selected Lactnet to receive the LISTSERV Innovation Award in the 2005-06 LISTSERV Choice Awards Program. For the past 11 years, Lactnet has used LISTSERV to promote maternal-child health by creating an international community of breastfeeding educators who actively exchange their at-the-ready knowledge and expertise. The list has approximately 3,500 subscribers from 38 countries on all continents except for Antarctica.
