Bethesda, MD (November 10, 2004) – Ofer-Trabec, an email announcement list that keeps people informed about employment opportunities in academia and public administration, won the Announcement List category of L-Soft's LISTSERV Choice Awards. Ofer-Trabec is hosted by RedIRIS, the Spanish National Research Network that connects 250 universities and scientific research centers. RedIRIS operates the largest LISTSERV site in Spain with more than 400 email lists of scientific nature.
Created in 1997, Ofer-Trabec is a pioneering Internet service that immediately informs its 16,000 subscribers about job openings and scholarships via email. The listings are in most cases for academic institutions in Spain but also include opportunities in the United States, United Kingdom, Brussels and as far as Antarctica. In addition, the Spanish Public Administration considers the Ofer-Trabec list to be an effective channel to distribute its weekly job announcements.
The Ofer-Trabec list uses LISTSERV's TOPICS feature, which allows recipients to choose the type of information that is relevant to them. "Ofer-Trabec won the award because of its exemplary use of LISTSERV's advanced features and dedication to providing a quality service to Spanish academia and public administration," said Eric Thomas, L-Soft CEO and founder.
